Our Principles
We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote
· The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
· Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
· Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our
congregations;
· A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
· The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our
congregations and in society at large;
· The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
· Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
For me, Unitarian Universalism and Unitarian Universalists support my spriritual journey. I embrace diversity and oppose discrimination whether based upon race, gender, or sexual orientation. I believe that the answer to the question, "Which of the following faiths, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Humanism, etc. is true?" is, 'Yes" I believe that they are all effective ways to approach the divine. I always wonder why human beings want to limit the divine. I believe in continuous revelation.
I believe that the faith of Unitarian Universalism is the right faith for the 21st Century. As the world becomes smaller through technological change and the population becomes larger, a faith that embraces diversity; that supports differing journeys; that values the earth; is focused on helping the less fortunate; and that believes in the interdependent web of existence is a faith that will insure humankind's existence and loving joy in the future.
It is because of all these things that I identify myself as a Unitarian Universalist evangelist.
