This program will be initiated in the spring of 2005. The intention is to start with a half acre of land. We will work cooperatively with the youth programs from other churches to grow organic vegetables. The soil has not been turned in thirty five years. I started at the end of the summer to turn some soil.
The vegetables will be given to the local food pantry for distribution to the needy.
The second year, the field will be increased to three acres. The vegetables will be donated to the needy and some will be sold to tourists to raise funds to support the program. Each year, we will follow practices to improve the soil and produce healthy, nourishing vegetables.
